 Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” came out over 40 years ago. However, it is still one of the highest selling albums of all time and the “zombie” dance made famous in the music video has reached iconic status, being featured in movies, tv shows and flash mobs around the world.  

The Arkalalah Executive Committee unanimously chose Carol Hearne to serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Arkalalah Big Parade.

The committee surprised Hearne with that announcement Friday while she was volunteering at the Burford Theatre.

“Each year the Arkalalah Executive Committee looks for ways to expand and improve the festival,” explained Clayton Pappan, Chairman of the Arkalalah Executive Committee. “A soap box derby style race is something we have been considering for a while now.”

Welcome to Arkalalah 2024! It has been a privilege to serve on the Arkalalah Executive Committee. I am honored to be able to uphold the traditions of the past while being part of a team that is working hard to continue to grow and improve the festival each year. 

 Hadley O’Toole has been crowned the 92nd Queen Alalah! At just 19 years old, Hadley exemplifies a remarkable commitment to leadership, service, and community, truly embodying the spirit of this prestigious honor. 

 The Marine Forces Reserve Band was established in 1978 and stands as one of ten Marine Corps field bands. The unit is comprised of active-duty Marines stationed aboard the Marine Corps Support Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.
